Basic Life Support or (BLS) is defined as: the administration of oxygen
and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.
ATI also provides BLS with defibrillation (BLS-D), meaning we use automatic
or manual defibrillators, dramatically
increasing the patients chances of recovery.
ATI's Basic Life Support services include critical care to patients beyond
First Aid,
patients who require critical care attention attention with:
- Patient Assessment, and the collecting and recording of Patient Vital
Signs.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR,)
- Oxygen Therapy or the use of Hare Traction Splints,
- Kendrick's Extrication Devices (KED's,)
- Trama to the head and neck requiring the use of a Long Spine Board,
- Cardiac trauma requiring the use of an Automatic External Defibrillator.
All ATI Basic Life Support units are trained to work in conjunction with
our Advanced Life Support units, assisting in the performance of the advanced
care procedures shortly after the completion of the basic care is given.
This ensures that patients are given the proper care they deserve, in
quick and efficient manner, minimizing the patients helath risk, and optimizing
positive patient prognosis.
